Outdoor Workout – Tire Flipping Exercise

Bootcamp Summary

Outdoor exercise classes at Debra Stefan Fitness retreat are available for spring and summer by appointment only. Private access for small group training limits how many can participate for quality control.

*Disclaimer: Not all bootcamp applicants are eligible for Debra’s outdoor workouts.

Bootcamp Exertion

Exercise readiness is the first step for taking part in the bootcamp workout. Registration requires an exercise readiness waiver. Therefore, each individual will work to their own capacity within reason and without overexertion.

Seasonal Bootcamp Classes

Since activities are outdoors, the schedule is seasonal. Summer class times are earlier than spring and fall. In case of inclement weather, we have an indoor accommodation.

Please read the bootcamp FAQs for details on what to expect and what to wear. Prepare for outdoor elements of nature as if you were going on a hike on a sunny day.

Fresh air exercise

You will not find another outdoor personal training workout that equals the variety of Debra Stefan Fitness retreats.

  • Should you prefer air-conditioning to fresh air, then stay in the gym.
  • If you are afraid of breaking a nail, mussing your hair, sweating and getting dirty, this is not for you.

Mother Nature’s cooling system

Sweating is your body’s way of cooling by evaporation. Movement creates air flow and cools the skin through perspiration. Especially for bootcamp, consider avoiding chemicals on the skin such as antiperspirant or deodorant.

The skin absorbs these substances into the bloodstream which is a process of transdermal ingestion. Please be careful what you put on your skin, your scalp, and your nails. Transdermal absorption delivers it all directly into the bloodstream.

Sweat it out

Whatever your body excretes by way of sweat is purifying. Keep sweating.

Excessive Exercise; Overdoing It?

The experience at a fitness retreat is unique and serves as an exception to the rule of caution telling people not to do excessive exercise. In the unique environment of a fitness retreat, you overcome normal limitations that you would have at home. There are several key factors enabling a person to safely and effectively exceed their normal limitations.

Why is there a fragrance-free policy at the retreat?

Fragrances can be overwhelming in close indoor spaces and may trigger headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation for others and can attract bees outdoors. Outdoors, scented products can attract bees, creating an unnecessary safety concern during training sessions. fragrance free policy bees Fragrance Free Policy The retreat maintains a strict fragrance free policy [...]

What is a Hydration Pack?

A hydration pack is a waist-mounted belt with bottle holders that allows hands-free hydration during outdoor training. Backpacks and shoulder-mounted systems are not permitted because they restrict movement, affect posture, and interfere with safe, efficient exercise. Handheld bottles are also discouraged, as they disrupt arm swing and are rarely used consistently during longer sessions.

Outdoor Fitness Classes – What to Wear

Outdoor fitness classes call for the same workout attire as indoor fitness. However, what you wear is subject to wear and tear more than in the gym. Designate the same pair of cross trainer shoes for outdoor workouts because they will likely get dirty. Likewise, your clothes. Consider training gloves for hand protection, a hat for sun protection, and sunglasses for eye protection.
